My name is James. When I was a little kid of 10, apparently I ran excitedly to my older brother one morning to tell him I'd just seen "the greatest movie ever". It was Citizen Kane. Although I have no recollection of this happening, it probably sums me up as well as anything else I can think of. That is, I've always been touched by an unexplained force, energy, or power which shows me the mysteries of life.
I first came to London UK as a typical fresh faced North American idiot. I knew little of my personal genetic history (Irish/Scottish), took people at face value and was immediately seduced by the old city called London. Within less than a week of arrival, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life here.
As a movie maker, I've been influenced primarily by Hollywood - everything from Edwin S. Porter to John Schlesinger. Modern film makers also, but I prefer to study "The Classics" for inspiration. After all, these are the people who influenced modern cinema the most. My all time favourite studio is Irving Thalberg's MGM.
